On May 23-24th 2015 the City of Wieliczka and Sports-Educational Center “Solne Miasto” hosted an OYAMA IKF Open European Cup and 20
th Open Polish Championships in Kata, Knockdown, Semi-knockdown and Light contact.

Mayor of
Wieliczka, mister Artur Kozioł and Chairman of OYAMA International Karate Federation – Jan Dyduch (8th dan) took patronage over these events. Both tournaments, that gathered over 500 competitors, were organized by OYAMA Polish Karate Federation and Wieliczka Sports Club OYAMA with Sensei Jarosław Hebda 3rd dan.

The E
uropean Championships hosted participants from 16 countries including: Canada, USA, India, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Germany, Estonia, France, Hungary, Belgium, Holland, Czech Republic, Norway, Denmark and UK representing different styles of karate: Oyama, Kanreikai, Kyokushin-Tezuka Group, Shinkyokushin, Kyokushin Matsushima, Kyokushin IFK and Kenshikai. Unfortunately because of the visa related issues representatives from Iran and Pakistan were not present.

Numerous foreign guest, partners of OYAMA IKF, received decorative plates acknowledging their participation in European Cup including President of World Kanreikai Karate Organization – Sensei Denis Cordeiro 4th dan (Canada) and Vice President of European Kyokushinkai Tezuka Group – Shihan Eugeniusz Stanislawek 6th dan.

During the artistic part Sempai Joanna Maciejewska (Denmark) presented her belly dance for the gathered crowd. We would like to congratulate her for a spectacular display. OSU!

The head referee of the European Cup was Shihan Paweł Pajdak 5th dan (Sosnowiec). The tournament attended also the director of schooling of OYAMA IKF Shihan Andrzej Pierzchala 6th dan (Poland-Krakow) and the director for sports matters – Shihan Igor Gubaydulin 5th dan (Russia).

Abundant trophies and medals for the European Cup were provided by SUTEMI company from Wadowice. It is worth underlining that all the competitors, trainers, referees and guests and lots of spectators received a 90 page prospect of the tournament. Prospect contained all the tournament brackets and pictures by Radoslaw Dyduch. Both tournaments were covered by numerous press and television journalists.

Saturday morning started with Open Kata tournament within European Cup. Tournament was conducted on 3 tatami. Group of referees judged kata presentations in various styles: Oyama, Kanreikai and Kyokushin.

The same day in the afternoon most prestigious knockdown division started. European Cup included the usage of mea-geri and hiza-geri jodan were such usage in the 20th Open Polish Championships was forbidden. Competition was conducted on 3 tatami. Best fighter award went to Eismunt Anastasiia - Ukraine Oyama and Serhiienko Illia - Ukraine Kyokushin.

Sunday morning began with European Cup in Light Contact tournament for younger juniors (12-14 y.o.) and Polish Championships for children (10-12 y.o.)

Fights took place on 4 tatami with 3 experienced referees in each team. According to Polish regulations, children were wearing protecting gear for the chest (hogo), helmets with face protection and a standard set covering legs, hands and crotch.

Second part of the day was reserved for a tournament in numerous Semi-knockdown category, where Juniors (14-16 y.o.) and Older Juniors (16-18 y.o.) of both genders competed on 4 tatami.
