OYAMA IKF EUROPEAN OPEN

CHAMPIONSHIPS, ESTONIA 2017

City of Kohtla Jarve- Estonia hosted OYAMA IKF European Open Championships. Event was divided to: Kata (11.11.2017), Light Contact, Semi-knockdown and Knockdown (12.11.2017) divisions. Tournament gathered almost 230 competitors from 8 countries /Russia, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Latvia, Ukraine and Estonia/ representing OYAMA International Karate Federation and other karate organizations.

The competition was graced by the presence of the local officials and the President of OYAMA International Karate Federation - Hanshi Jan Dyduch 8th dan. Referee coordinators from OYAMA IKF were two Vice-Presidents of the Board: Shihan Pawel Pajdak 6th dan (Poland) and Shihan Igor Gubaidulin 5th dan (Russia).

 


Hanshi Jan Dyduch thanked the hosts on behalf of the OYAMA IKF for the invitation and presented Sensei Valeriy Savitskiy 4th dan with a special plaque on occasion of the European Open Championships in Estonia.

Saturday evening was reserved for the tournament in Elite Kata. Sunday focused on European Championship for Children in Light Contact, Juniors in Semi-knockdown and Seniors in Knockdown.

Fierce and vigorous fights in children categories heated up the atmosphere in the sports hall. Numerous fighters from Latvia and Russia showed their superiority in Light Contact.

Fights in Junior divisions were full of advanced and dynamic kicks. Numerous medals in Semi-knockdown were divided amongst fighters from Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Ukraine and Poland.

Senior Woman fights were rich in ippon and wazaari finishes. Ladies heavy weight title went to current World Vice-Champion from Canada (Montreal)- Justyna Cyrulik (Poland).

Ilja Sergienko once again sealed his dominance of the middle weight division. Ukrainian just like Igor Kikenov (Estonia), impressed with his impeccable stamina, well developed tactics and excellent technique. In Hanshi Jan Dyduch opinion these two competitors, were without a doubt, best senior fighters of the European Championships 2017.OSU!
